Moxies Barrie Restaurant

Our waitress seemed disengaged and almost hostile; she barely paused to check on us, more like asking how we were while walking past us. One of the highlights for our kids has always been the dessert experience, where they bring out the ice cream and pour hot water over it to create a smoky effect. Unfortunately, our waitress skipped this part and simply delivered the ice cream without any presentation. Overall, we've decided not to return to this Moxie's location.

We shared a few appetizers, and everything was beautifully prepared. If you haven't tried Moxies yet, I highly recommend it. The fries were cooked to perfection, and even their salads have a gourmet touch. The calamari is truly unique and unlike anything else.

The food and service were outstanding. I ordered my usual beef vindaloo, which is my absolute favorite—I've stopped even looking at the menu. However, I found the price of a glass of wine to be a steep $19, which I think is excessive. This pricing has somewhat tainted my experience at my favorite restaurant in Barrie. We used to go there for drinks occasionally, but they've priced themselves out of our range.

I made a reservation through Open Table, but I was disappointed to find that we ended up with a table right by the restroom. While the food and service were fantastic, the noise level was unbearable. My friend and I had to eat in silence because we couldn't hear each other at all. I glanced up at the ceiling and noticed there were no acoustic tiles; you really need some, or perhaps a whistle to help tone down the chatter. Unfortunately, this pretty much ruined our evening.

I reserved a table for lunch and ended up staying for two meetings afterward (at 2:00 and 4:00). The restaurant was quite empty from 2:00 to 4:00, yet the manager informed me that I should consider going to a coffee shop next time since I was taking up a table. Our lunch cost $150, and we also ordered coffee and sparkling water during the meetings. I will not be returning. I plan to hold my monthly meetings in Barrie at a place where my clients and I feel welcome.
