Restaurant bewertenWe spent a week in barga and for our last night we went to the L 'Arsenale. We went on the recommendation of a friend and I was so disappointed. We had had some of the best food in the week we spent in Barga and had very high expectations of L 'Arsenale. These were not met. Not even a little bit. We opted for the 'all you can eat ' option. A huge mistake which left me starving at the end of it. The restaurant ran out of beer at 8 o 'clock on a Friday night! We had had 3 litres of beer between the 9 of us. I don 't drink wine and they had no soft drinks, so I was left drinking water. I have never been so glad to leave a place. It has no atmosphere, it is very down at heal and the staff appeared more interested in the local clientele than a crowd of strangers. Very disappointing and a stark difference to the welcome we had had at the other restaurants we visited. Save your time and money, there are plenty places to eat in Barga, go to any of them.
ON our first visit here in April, David and I were so impressed with the food and the setting that we immediately decided we would like our wedding reception here. Subsequent visits (for both 10 euro workers ' lunches and 20 euro dinners) reinforced our decision and, last month, our wedding reception took place here. It was perfect in every way. The efforts of Matteo and his staff were superb, from the restaurant set up, the food, the service through to the ambience. Everyone was more than delighted. In the everyday sense of the place lunches are served from 12.00 c2.00 and dinners from 8.00, excepting Mondays. The food is EXCELLENT simple and mostly home sourced. The setting is rustic, no silver service here, but who wants that when there is food that more than speaks for itself. The menu choice is not extensive (neither is the wine cellar sfuso wine) but the quantities are generous. Often there is no written menu so it can be quite amusing ordering the meal. At lunchtime many workers come for their meals and, as often in Italy, their patronage is the benchmark for eating well. Evening meals are similarly excellent, with a few more options. Apart from the outstanding quality of the food, what I like about this place is its cosy size (we had the whole place for the reception), its genuine and unpretentious nature, the personal service, its setting in its own grounds and the availability of parking. It is said that you get what you pay for. Here one gets much more.
A friend took us here for lunch and i felt comfortable and welcomed straight away. Lovely surroundings and friendly staff. Good food and fab price
Ottima fermata per il pranzo di lavoro. Lo abbiamo trovato su Google Maps e devo dire che abbiamo mangiato in modo squisito. Cucina tradizionale molto semplice e molto saporita. Servizio veloce e prezzi davvero modici.
