Restaurant bewertenFriends Bar and Grill, opened by the former chef of the Green Carrot, offers a variety of delicious vegan and veganizable options. I recently tried the Tofu-Khmer-Curry and was blown away by its deep, rich aroma and abundance of fresh vegetables cooked in coconut milk. The fresh coconut I ordered was the perfect accompaniment. Other menu choices include vegan options like vegetable fried rice, vegetable noodles, tom-yum, sweet and sour dishes, stir-fried ginger with tofu and cashews, and tomato paste. Don't forget to try their refreshing fresh juices as well!
The food was decent, nothing extraordinary, but it was good. However, it was extremely spicy. I usually enjoy spicy food, but this was too much to handle. I would recommend informing the restaurant in advance if you cannot tolerate high levels of spiciness. We ordered the tofu curry and papaya salad.
We ordered a curry and a papaya salad at this restaurant. Both dishes were extremely spicy, possibly the spiciest we have had in Southeast Asia. The salad had a hint of fish flavor, leading us to believe that fish sauce may have been used in the dressing. It was our mistake for not inquiring beforehand, so it's best to ask. The curry was decent, but nothing exceptional, especially considering we have had better food for around $3. The salad cost $2.
