Restaurant bewertenWe were given this location from our hosts at Le Manoir de Hérouville as special place to visit and they were not wrong. The menu is superb and we were here for over 3 hours eating the delicious courses.Phillipe the waiter was so helpful and funny making the evening even more enjoyable. We had Lobster to start which was superb as were all the following courses plenty to choose from as well as all the extra little touches you get.It worked out approx £150.00 for the two of us but the visit was well worth the money as a gastronomic experience and the decor and ambience was great.
We discovered Manoir de la Drome purely by chance - needing somewhere in the vicinity for lunch before a visit to the nearby slate mine at Caumont L'Evente. It surpassed our expectations by some distance. The lunchtime prix fixe menu at 26€ gave us three stunning courses: a smoked salmon and herring salad, followed by beef and homemade pasta with a sauce laced with ginger, and a wonderful strawberry mousse with macerated strawberries for dessert. Everything was bursting with flavour, and portions were generous. Once the homemade bread, coffee and wine was included, the bill for six of us came to just less than 40€ a head, and while that was more expensive than we'd originally planned, we thought it well worth every penny.Service was faultless: not least because the staff didn't bat an eye at our somewhat scruffy attire (we were dressed for the slate mine) in what is a fairly smart restaurant, and was discreet but friendly throughout our visit. The Manoir itself is a beautiful old building with a lovely garden to the rear. Not just worth a visit, but worth a detour.
Provincial France sometimes hides incredible gems. This is one of them. The room is large and quiet. It fits romantic dinners and larger table of friends. The menu can be creative without being crazy original and I remember a really well cooked fish on a busy evening which shows that the chef is completely in control. The wine list is really good as well. The service is deliciously polite and outdated like you would expect in such a place and reminds how annoying are waiters of those trendy places when they keep on interrupting the guests conversation.
A wonderful old manor house, the dining room was delightful. We had the tasting menu at 70Euros, a fabulous event with 10 lovely plates of various delicious local foods, beautifully prepared. Two of the courses were sublime - the most marvellous taste sensations I have had for years. The maitre d' was informative, friendly and good company. We are still talking about it.
Exceptional in every sense. From the wide range of flavoured rolls (onion, algae, chestnut), to succulent turbot and veal in light but distinctive sauces attentively served by discreet staff who explain what they are serving in several languages, an evening meal will set you back a bit but you'll be reliving the experience for a couple of days at least.
