Zax Restaurant & Bar - Austin

I organized a company happy hour at Zax with over 40 attendees, and the staff truly went above and beyond to make our experience enjoyable, both before and during the event. Everyone appreciated the fantastic selection of beers, appetizers, and dinner options. On a personal note, I've visited Zax for small group dinners multiple times over the past year, and the food has consistently been delicious, while the staff remains very welcoming. It's my favorite spot in Austin!

I work nearby Zax's and often stop by. The food is reliably good, making it an excellent choice for lunch meetings, although parking can sometimes be tricky. I typically walk over from my downtown office, and it's a nice walk across the bridge. The daily specials can vary in quality, but the staff is always professional and friendly.

The restaurant had a strong odor of raw fish, so we decided to sit on the terrace instead. I ordered the pizza and was pleasantly surprised by its taste. Unfortunately, my partner was disappointed with her cheese manicotti, as it lacked flavor. We also found the prices to be higher than we expected, which came as a bit of a surprise.

The meal and service were great, and they have a fantastic selection of beers. I was part of a group of seven, and I absolutely loved the tuna. My only disappointment was the automatic 20% gratuity that was already included in the bill. Isn’t the whole idea of tipping supposed to be based on the quality of the service? It should feel like a personal reward for excellent service, not something that’s mandatory.
