Restaurant bewertenA group of friends arrived before 11am on Saturday morning. Joselyn and Janie were busy opening up the Tiki Bar despite the forecast for the day (rain was coming . They happily engaged us in conversation and were ready to serve us as soon as we were ready. We were going out for the day on the boat and decided to start with a morning pick me up. Jamie made a couple of suggestions and we settled on drinks. Great choices were made! Needing to use the facilities, there were outdoor options, but Joselyn said she was opening up the bar and to give her a minute and we could use the indoor facilities. Super nice and accommodating! Joselyn told us about the ribs on special for the day should we need a lunch option. We finished our drinks and headed out for a day of boating. We needed ice and Mark was quick to help! The day was gorgeous...until it wasn 't. The radar showed rain coming in around 3:30 and having had the idea of ribs out in our heads earlier in the day, we decided to make our way back to The Thirsty Turtle. We had great service...Sabrina was awesome! She was super busy handling the outside (getting tables cleared in the rain, bringing things in, etc. , but she made time for our party of six. Food was hot and delicious. What a nice surprise to see Joselyn again as she was making her rounds to see how the guests were doing. Chris was behind the bar and our drinks were fast to arrive. I 'll wrap this up by saying Thank you all for caring about the experience of your guests. It really made a difference and made our day fantastic. We will be back!
Place looks great! Haven't been there in a while, I will definitely be back!
They are out of business they closed in October 2018.
$2.50 Miller Pints special but they had the wrong beer hooked up to tapper. My wife switched to bottles and they charged $3.25. One would think they'd charge the $2.50 due to the error. I was having Jack Coke doubles which tasted like a regular J C. When we got the bill it was $10 a drink! That is absurd. When I complained to the owner she stated the Liquor Commission requires her to charge this much. I guess every other bar in Lake County is in violation. I told her I won't be back. Go to Riverside in Wilmot. Correct beers on tap and $10 Jack Coke pitchers. Only reason it got two stars is because the staff was friendly.
The Thirsty Turtle has recently been re-modeled and in the process is more bright and inviting (see pics . Their dining area is also re-modeled and can be reserved for private parties and events. Catering for your event is also available. The Thirsty Turtle 's bar area has Five HD TVs, including a really big screen TV, plus plenty of space unlike some sports bars that seem too crowded. There is a pool table, Internet jukebox, two outdoor volleyball courts and a bag toss area. The bar also sports a huge deck area overlooking beautiful Channel Lake (In the Illinois Chain of Lakes . Fun drink specials such as Build your own Bloody Mary add to the party atmosphere. Try their Angus Beef burger (Hickory smoked for 14 hours before cooking , My Girlfriend 's Burger (served on a pretzel roll! , the olive and feta cheese burger or the turkey BLT club burger (more than enough for the hungriest appetite . The salads here are top notch too- far better than you would expect in the typical Beach Bar .
