Auberge Beauséjour - Amqui

I was very disappointed with my experience. The young waitress made her way across the table and customers just to hand out the menus. There were no evening specials available, and we were not offered any bread. The lighting was so dim that it was difficult to read the menu. While the salmon wasn't fresh, the linguini with scallops was quite good. However, we weren't offered any Parmesan cheese, and again, no bread. Overall, the ambiance, the venue, and the service did not justify the prices charged for the food.

This restaurant is fantastic! The atmosphere is wonderful, enhanced by a jazz duo, and the servers are very welcoming! I enjoyed an impeccably cooked salmon, and everything is homemade and sourced locally. It’s a must-visit spot in the area!

My dining experience began with a mention from the staff that they offer a daily set menu with 6 to 8 options, which can run out if you arrive late due to popular demand. The prices are very reasonable, and the food is truly gourmet. I started with a sweet onion and cheese soup that was simple yet rich in flavor. For my main course, I had the seafood casserole, featuring tilapia, salmon, and imitation crab in a creamy sauce. It was generously packed with seafood and absolutely delicious—despite not typically liking tilapia, I found it to be quite good here! The portion sizes were just right. My lunch companion opted for the pork fillet with a mustard sauce accompanied by sweet potatoes and beans. While she noted that the pork was a bit dry, the sauce made it enjoyable. For dessert, we indulged in a decadent hazelnut cheesecake that was simply to die for—truly first-class! The gift shop is a clever touch, allowing diners to take home gourmet sauces, spices, jams, and other treats either before or after their meal. The chocolate shop is an even brighter idea, catering to chocoholics with an array of homemade chocolates that could surely make a fortune. The ambiance is enhanced by these offerings, making it even better to enjoy a meal reminiscent of a bygone era. I picked up some chocolates to take home and have enjoyed them immensely! This might just be the best restaurant in Amqui, and I can’t wait to return at my next opportunity!
