Restaurant bewertenWe stopped at this restaurant for lunch while hiking in the Duoro Valley. Menu was in Portuguese, so we guessed at what to order. Special of the day seemed to be tripe stew, which we weren't up to. I had had a garden salad the previous night with my dinner and it was priced at E7. Looking at the menu, I picked an atum salad for each of us at E4 per and then an omelet mistag (E4) for us to split, thinking we would have a light-ish lunch. Bread and olives were also served and we had a carafe of the house wine. You can imagine our surprise when dinner plate-sized salads loaded with delicious tuna, hard boiled eggs, corn, at least a whole sliced tomato on each, olives and I can't remember what all else were served to us along with a large ham and cheese omelet. Needless to say, we did our best but couldn't eat it all and there was no way we were having dinner that night. All this, including a large bottle of water, came to E15.50. What a steal!!! And although the owner spoke no English, and I no Portuguese, we managed to converse with our limited French and hand signals. She was a very gracious sport.
Excellent local resaurant. Short drive out of Alijo in Favvaios. Modest facility with excellent value food. While the food was good....it was the sauces on the meals that lifted the meal to the next level. Steak/Pork for 2, bottle of wine for 27 Euros....even got to watch the local football/soccer game on TV.
We came in from a long hike very hungry and our host shift open the restaurant up for us. We had wonderful fish and feel, great potatoes and a crisp green salad.. Best of all amazing eagle fried potatoes so good! Family style as are many meals in Portugal traditional restaurants.
