Red Ochre Grill - Alice Springs

We got excited with the special menu they had on the wall, went in order it and got told the menu is only available lunch time next week, I was like WTF ??? Then I changed order to their standard menu, Crocodile/lamb shank/Thai beef etc are all not available!!!! What a huge disappointment, we didn't even go any further, asked what is available and order what is left over!!!!!

As a walk-in at 9pm on a Friday night in a half empty restaurant I thought I may be welcome. However, that was not the case this evening. Service was perfunctory. A request for water was forgotten and, once reminded, you were forced to pour it yourself from the jug provided. The meal (lamb shank, mashed potato and peas for $29) was not hot, not restaurant quality and the bill was brought without being requested. All in all, not an enjoyable experience.

Excellent dinner menu using bush tucker ingredients. Large portions. Friendly staff with good knowledge of menu. Great for breakfast too.

Les steaks et les bruschetta sont très bons. Le service est attentionné, la décoration est basique, voire absente. Mais le temps d'attente est vraiment très long ; comptez facilement 45'. D'un autre côté, il n'y a pas grand chose d'autre à faire le soir à Alice.

Great restaurant connected to the Aurora Alice Springs on Todd Street. We were greeted so warmly by the Manager and staff. Our meal was wonderful- the bruschetta on damper was a delight and the steaks cooked well to order with wonderfully freshVegetables. Will definitely stay there next time too
