Restaurant bewertenLong time favorite in Alameda. Many flavors to choose from, plenty of seatings and right in the center of the city
Today, the kids wanted ice cream and just by chance we found parking in front of the restaurant, so Tucker 's it is! I 've visited Tucker 's for several years to grab a quick bite or celebrate birthday parties. It 's been a few years since I 've walked into the restaurant. When we approached the restaurant 's front door, my daughter pointed out the windows sign that read help protect Asian lives. I was just thinking how nice that sign was to read on the windows as you enter the building. As we walked in, it was nice to look up at the second floor and reminisce about all the family parties that were held up there. Today, the girls ordered vegan lemon and Cookie dough ice cream in a waffle cone. My daughter that ate cookie dough said that we need to go to Tuckers again as she quickly devoured every morsel of her snack. My daughter that ordered them vegan lemon said that it was good and we appreciate non-dairy options. I ordered a slice of the s 'mores cake but it was finished by the time I was at the front of the register. It is 3:30pm on a Saturday, and the shift lead was giving my partner attitude and he was not happy with that at all so he asked to speak to the supervisor. As he was speaking to the supervisor, the shift lead walked up to them mid-conversation and said what is the problem so he looked at her and said as a matter of fact, you are the problem. Long story short, basically, even the coworkers of the shift lead were telling my partner that the shift lead is just not a nice person. Ice cream: 4 stars from my girlsCustomer service: 2 stars
Tucker's is an alameda staple and I'm all about it.Whenever I'm craving ice cream after having dinner in Alameda, the answer is always Tucker's. It's everyone's answer, it seems, because whenever I've gone, it's busy. Everyone loves their ice cream! Even if it's cold outside. They have a lot of flavors to choose from some that are regulars and others that are seasonal. I'm waaaaiting for the Tiger Tail (I think that was the name) to come back. It was an orange flavor with chocolate. Sometimes I'll go for the waffle cone. The smell of them baking it is just so tempting. Besides ice cream, they have other desserts as well: frozen bananas, malts, ice cream cakes, etc. There's also a lot of seating both inside and outside on their back patio. They do have some of the seating areas blocked off sometimes. I'm not sure why but I think it'd be helpful to open those spaces up especially when it gets busier. Before the pandemic, you were able to reserve a space if you wanted to have your private party. Not sure if that's still the case but that'd be a great option for a gathering if they bring it back!
No samples allowed. My friends and I finished dinner nearby and walked over to Tucker's Ice Cream. The building itself seems a bit old, but it gives that homey/nostalgic vibe! The line can build up, but it goes by pretty quickly. I ordered the Pralines and Cream kids scoop. The ice cream is creamy and thick enough to not melt immediately. The kid's scoop is $1 less than the regular, but it's enough ice cream for me to be content!
A historical place serving housemade ice cream. My friends and I arrived to Tucker's Sunday night in hopes of getting our ice cream cravings satiated. We didn't have to wait to long as they had plenty of workers available. The Tin Roof Sundae was very creamy and flavorful with vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup and almonds! I got a kids scoop, which was more than enough for me! It's also about a dollar cheaper than the single scoop, so I was satisfied! It melted at a slower pace than other ice creams, which I liked since we sat down and talked. I think they could have more sitting areas since it was a relative larger building with two floors, but the second floor seemed to primarily serve as storage areas; maybe it's for the best so that their customer don't get hurt! Overall, Tucker's is great for some quick ice cream on a late night in Alameda.
