Restaurant bewertenWe already loved the atmosphere here. And now that Canela's is sharing this gorgeous space we're excited to be visiting here even more often! We are big fans of the breakfasts, and the ambience is fresh and open — with seating in the terrace outside and a massive courtyard inside. We're also fans of the great Wi-Fi and welcoming, friendly folks.
The location has changed from what is posted. Canela's Café is now sharing a space with La Mision Restaurant on Calle Rio Bravo. They are open from 8am - 2 pm. We went here for breakfast this morning. The food was well prepared and we learned that the chefs were trained in Avieto, Italy culinary school. It really shows. They make everything by hand, including the bread and the sausage. The eggs were cooked perfectly - my husband had an omelette stuffed with BBQ brisket that he said was about the best he has ever eaten. Highly recommend this place for a great breakfast. They also serve lunch. You can read an entire review and see pictures on Lake Chapala Restaurant Guide.
Canela's Cafe has moved to Rio Bravo 7, Ajijic and shares the beautiful home of La Mission Restaurant. Two restaurants, one beautiful venue. Canela's for breakfast and lunch (until 2pm).The atmosphere is great with inside and outside seating and the menu has much to offer. My husband had the Biscuits and (Poblano) Gravy and added two eggs for a minimal price. I had Chilaquiles with red sauce and added two scrambled eggs. We shared a small fruit plate. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and the service was good, albeit slow...but we're not in a hurry.Nicky the owner made it a point to come to our table. We felt welcome, and with so many items on the menu, we can come back again and again to try new things. This change of location will give everyone a chance to go there, as the past location wasn't the best. Hasta Luego!
First, the good. My husband had the eggs Benedict with shrimp and proclaimed it the best he's had Lakeside. I had chicken and waffles, which were good but not great. The boneless chicken breast was batter fried and perfectly crisp, but needed salt and perhaps a little zing in the batter. The waffles had cinnamon and maybe apple; they had great flavor but were a bit doughy and heavy. Coffee was excellent.Unfortunately, they are located on the Carretera just east of Colon in the Montana shopping center. So, you're sitting amidst all the traffic. Good for people watching. Staff are fully bilingual, eager to please, and very very nice.
