Restaurant bewertenAnother favourite of ours and top pick for cafe. Has been our go to lunch spot for a number of years. Best coffee in the city and love the freshly made salads every day. Also very reasonably priced for serving size. Definitely recommended.
Tucked away from the busy Rundle Street, Penny University is one of those busy little cafes serving up delicious food. Went there for breakfast on two occasions last year and it was such a delight being greeted with happy baristas and cooks. The space is very tight so try get there early if you want to have breakfast!<br/ <br/ Ordered the Shakshuka the first time and it was so so yummy! It may look like a simple tomato and eggs with rockets breakfast but I think the way all the flavours came together was just really nice. Hot chocolate was a lovely combo to start off my day.
Pennys is close to the office so we often come here for lunch, the chicken and fish with optional salads are always a wonderful healthy choice. pennys is an institution!
Had a take away coffee yesterday which was good, so went back for breakfast today. Coffee again was excellent, but our food came out on the cold side of barely warm. Not just the fritters, which might be a little forgivable since they were covered in cold avocado, but the bacon on the side was barely warm. Mentioned it to the person in charge and a minute later a waitress came out to explain that the person who served us got lost looking for our table, and would we like another coffee to make up for it. The venue is tiny. There is no way they couldn't find our table. I don't mind that things go wrong sometimes, it happens to all of us, but the response was not credible and not appropriate. We clearly were not eating the food. It was not a case of trying to get a freebie. We wanted to eat and couldn't because what we were served was unpleasant. Offer replacement or refund, not a coffee and a weak explanation.
Very busy upon arrival and staff a little stressed but trying to keep up service. The salads in the window looked fresh and delicious. I asked if I could stray from the menu and combine 2 salads with a poached egg and bacon and they were most obliging. Food was delicious but served on chipped enamel plate which I'm sure is edgey and hip.....id just rather ceramic. Well worth trying.
