Restaurant bewertenWe visited Abbeville to break our drive to Nouvelle Aquitaine in France. Tunnel delays meant that we showed up in the restaurant without booking at 9 a.m. The greeting was warm and friendly. There is a concrete divider in the street outside, so it is impossible to drive when approaching from the north. No problem to turn around the next roundabout and access the parking lot. The Auberge is popular with both truck drivers and locals. Not hard to see why. Four course Festpreis Menu 16,90 Euro incl. carafe wine and unlimited bread. No greedy service fees added to the bill that gets sad in Britain more often. The menu consists of 3 tables on the wall. A table for Entrées. One for the net. One for puddies. All hearty and traditional scarf. The third cheese course is, I guess what you get! We went for the cheese when we felt clogged. All in all a nice welcome in France!
Do not expect white linen, but a friendly welcome in this rouge, which is so famous that it can be better to reserve a table for lunch. The meal is of course a selection of 5 appetizers or more, a main dish, a generous serving of cheese and desert, most of them made home. We chose wild boar cake and eggs Mayonnaise (served on a rich part of potato salad) for starters and then I had a steactare and pommes and my companion had bovine bourguignon. Both were very satisfactory. The cheese board consisted of a whole Kamembert and a wonderful piece of Coulommier. The desserts were made at home cakes and although the crust was light, it could be a bit better cooked, we had banana rhubarb in a custard and apple cake with apple slices on the top of apple sauce. For the low menu price this was a bargain, but also traditionally good.
The place goes through a refit and there is no signage on the building. But Persevere A great value les routieres style roadside restaurant. minutes from A16. Table menu simply fayre. €14:90 four courses and wine!!!! Friendly service fast and hyperefficient. Just brilliant.
1) excellent value for money 13.50 euros for 3 courses plus cheese plus drink 2) wide selection of food 3) all seemed home cooked rather than brought in 4) lovely service, which you cannot always expect when so busy 5) just an hour away from calais and just a couple of minutes from autoroute an ideal stop before returning to uk. 6) it is on the old Route Nationale 1 so would have had lots of passing traffic in its hey day 20+ years ago. Now though the car park is full of locals. We will be returning
