Restaurant bewertenGreat little local tavern. With the family freindly atmosphere. Good food menu. fast service.
It’s been a classic for over a hundred years for a reason. Excellent. We travel to Philly just to swing past for a bite.
Food is really good. My gripe is, they have a limit on the number of slices of cake you can buy which is inconvenient- celebrating a birthday when you can only buy 2 slices! To try to get enough cake for my husband?s birthday (because this happens to be his favorite cake), I went back the day after I purchased two slices and was advised that they do not sell cake on Sundays when there is an event going on ?????. I won?t be quick to return and spend my money here
The Schmitter sandwich is absolutely the best sandwich in Philly. The service, particularly by Ellen is above and beyond and was outstanding, and the alcoholic drinks top off the wonderful historic Irish bar atmosphere.
A colleague from Philly recommended this restaurant to us during a business trip. When we arrived, I looked at the menu and tried to find something semi-healthy to order. But, our colleague said you have to get ?The Schmitter?, because that?s what this place is known for. Honestly, if I had not been told that, I would have never ever ordered that item, because it didn?t sound appetizing to me. However, I always say, ?when in Rome??, so I decided to go for it. I?m not kidding you when I say it was delicious. Totally not my style of food, because it?s dripping with cheese and sauce, fat and carbs, but oh my gosh, it was fabulous! I only wish I could have tried it on a cold snowy day instead of in the midst of the summer swelter, because it seems like a perfect comfort style pub food sandwich when coming in from a blustery day. If I ever have to come here in the winter, I definitely want to eat here again!
