Restaurant bewertenThis is one of the only restaurants in the area that has a full bar and doesn't make margaritas out of wine, however the food is only somewhat decent and whenever I order a margarita I ask for no mixer just fresh lime juice and the tiniest agave, but they repeatedly give me an extremely sweet margarita that tastes like mixer. I've officially given up on this place.
I'm not joking when I say this was probably hands down one of the best burritos i've had in my life. I visit Pismo as much as I can, and every time I always have to come here for their chili colorado burrito because it's soo memorable. Not only that, there costumers service is top notch. I love this place, and i'll always continue to come :
A disappointment. After coming here since I was around 5 years old (26 now) and loving this place and recommending it to everyone I knew, I am sad to report it has taken a turn for the worst and will continue until it returns back to normal. We noticed last year (pictured with the enchilada, rice, and tamale) that the interior had some changes which looked good, but didn 't necessarily fit the vibe of old Juan 's. Fast forward to today (pictured of the rice and beans with PICKLED ONIONS AND CARROTS on top of enchiladas). A disappointment. Change the vibe, but don 't change the recipe that has kept people coming back for decades. As a kid growing up in the dunes, old Juan 's was a staple to our week/weekend. We looked forward to our special night out at this amazing place. Now, we won 't come back unless we hear there are changes to go back to their delicious and traditional food. Sincerely, A dissatisfied customer of 20* years.
Well, let me start by saying I'd had dinner here a few years ago, and had a GREAT time. Great food, great salsa, I had a great drink called a Mexican iced tea. So safe to say I was expecting a similar experience. Unfortunately it was the opposite. I was really upset with my drink, I ordered a Mexican iced tea, same drink I'd had before and it had tasted similar to a Long Island iced tea, but this time it just tasted like whiskey and water. It was nauseating. I had my fiancé try it and he agreed it tasted like a watered down whiskey. I literally couldn't drink it. The food wasn't bad, I actually really liked the beans but I wasn't a fan of the rice. It needed seasoning or something and there wasn't any salt on the table or anything. I ordered carnitas, and for some reason the menu left me with the assumption that the meat was a thin cut and it was huge chunks of meat. Good meat, but I prefer the thin cut carnitas. They tend to be a lot crispier and leaner. The only good thing I have to say is the service was good, I liked our server a lot, he was a really nice guy, I wish he'd asked a little sooner how our food and drinks were (he didn't ask until we were finished eating) so I could have mentioned the terrible drink but he was really kind. I hate to say anything bad about him at all because he really was so nice. I think he was the only server and he was busy. I'm disappointed because this isn't the review I was expecting to write. Overall, based on my recent experience, I unfortunately wouldn't recommend.
The location is adorable. I really enjoyed the ambiance. If you go on a weekend expect to wait for 45 min to an hour to be seated. This place still serves chips and salsa which I really appreciated. A lot of restaurants charge now since the pandemic and they don't. I ordered their Chile Verde Enchilada Chile Relleno combo. The chile verde sauce on the enchilada was fantastic. I really enjoyed the flavor. The chile relleno wasn't anything amazing. The cheese wasn't even melted inside. They have three different margarita sizes (Liter, Super Regular) which I thought was fun.
