D Ick's Fish Chips - Campbell River

We visited the restaurant for fish and chips, burgers, and fries, and overall, the food was quite good. The fries were a bit too thick for my taste, but everyone (two adults and two teenagers) enjoyed their meals. The restaurant itself felt cramped and looked a bit worn, definitely in need of a fresh coat of paint. The customer service was somewhat odd, likely because the staff at the front were teenagers. I would probably return if I had a craving for fish and chips, but I’d likely opt for takeout next time. I would give the food a 4.5 rating and the restaurant itself a 2.

The quality of the fish remains excellent, but it seems that the portions are becoming smaller. Nevertheless, I would still recommend this restaurant because the fish is delicious.

The customer service was excellent, but unfortunately, I was disappointed with the food. I ordered the haddock since they were out of halibut, and it was quite below average. There was too much batter, and the tartar sauce was just okay. I don't think I would return. I've tried fish at various places around the island, and this one ranks in the bottom third in terms of taste and overall quality.

I was excited to try this place, as it seems to be a local favorite. I stopped in and got the Salmon and chips. The Salmon was quite good, tasty and moist. The fries were not good at all, blah. And I wasn't a fan of their coleslaw. IThey charge extra for ketchup, etc. I was the only one in there at the time, so I talked to the gentleman who worked the counter AND the chef. What great people! They were funny and kind and engaging. They saw I had my dog waiting outside, so they gave me a bag of old fries for her. (She loved them, but I couldn't feed her THAT many fries; she'd already had her dinner So, a mixed review. I'd go back for the fish.

Best fish and chips ! Great friendly staff and moms kitchen atmosphere. Love it.
