"If you find yourself in Zweisimmen and in need of some refuelling before starting on a strenuous-ish hike (to Rinderberg Eggweid, for example, which is quite a climb,) the Café Pony is an excellent venue to do just that. Open all day, it serves breakfasts, snacks and some hot meals (some of which are traditionally Swiss, e.g Kässchnitte or Älpler Makronen) and of course bakes its own bread - which, by he way, is excellent, with a thick crisp crust and a damp soft interior which still carries the pleasant rich aroma of flour and yeast which were allowed to do their job at leisure. Sounds obvious, but is getting rather rare nowadays when everything is pre-fabricated and ready-made. (You can tell by now that I'm a bit of a bread fetishist, I suppose, so bear with me, please.)Having said that, the place features both a small but cosy inside dining area and a winter garden, the latter of which gets a lot of sun even in the depth of winter. And last but not least, the staff is friendly and efficient and prices none too steep for a Swiss mountain resort."

"this small mountain restaurant on 1670 m.u.M. is considered a secret tip. Open only during the alp period from in each case juni to mid september. here you can stay at natural terraces with a more magnificent view. the in-house products are very good. the about 1 km for the walk is definitely worth even for car drivers. very accommodating host!"

"Found this restaurant as we were walking around Zweisimmen, it is not too far from the train station. It is on a pretty tree lined street filled with shops. They have a small terrace outside and the restaurant has two levels inside, We sat on the terrace since it was such nice weather. We had Sunday lunch here, they had a choice of two specials of the day, which we liked the look of so we didn't bother with the menu. They do have a very good menu with lots of choice of salad, sandwiches or hot meals. The special were CHF 18.00 each which for Switzerland is average, it included a starter of soup or salad. My husband chose the Curry soup and I chose the salad. Both well made. My salad came decorated with a few edible flowers which was a nice touch and a french dressing. For the entree we had Pork Schnitzel with pasta shells and mediterranean vegetables. It had a light wine sauce, everything was nicely seasoned and the pasta shells were buttered. Overall an excellent meal for the price. My husband had Beer and I had a soft drink. It is actually cheaper to have a beer so I will remember that for next time ! They had wine also. There were a number of people eating there some locals as well as tourists like ourselves. The staff are very polite and helpful. After we had coffees and a Toblerone Mousse dessert which was very nicely presented with a dish of vanilla icecream on the side as well as a cube of fudge and some almonds that had a sweet crunchy coating topped with a physalis fruit. Loved it. The Desserts were quite expensive but there were lots of other options which might have been cheaper. Quite a few people seemed to be enjoying their tarts. All in all I recommend."
