Restaurant bewertenThe Grandmakase experience was worth trying the month-plus to get a reservation. It was an unforgettable meal supported by great service. We will definitely try the normal menu again and hopefully at least one more Grandmakase dinner.
I am above all not a great fan of acidic and bitter aromas, but this place seems to serve surprisingly elevated food from your typical bar. The atmosphere was fun projected with anime and services were great. There is not much signage, but a Japanese lantern in front of the blue door. I drive to the location, those who plan parking can have a challenge. If you like to sit at the sushi bar, it is reserved. The bar itself is very dim and is a fairly small area. There are sitting outside, but limited.
Many isakayas do not really have the dishes or flavors I love from Japanese. My top 4 dishes were the chicken caraage, braided short ribs, sweet fog glazed eggplant and Sesam panna cotta. Each dish was rich in aromas and really approached with love-cribing melt in your mouth textures were all present I was most surprised at the eggplant. I could put them in my mouth all day; I don't generally love eggplants, but this one was roasted with a beautiful Umami sweet glaze for perfection. Light enough to balance the flavors, but not exaggerated That was the same with the Pannacotta. Super sesame usefulness by itself, but also beautifully paired with fresh mango and caramel above I can hardly wait to try new items next time. Even her grandmakase at the back, which has 8 seats (usually very difficult to book and apps normally open bookings for the following month every month) More on Instagram: @midwestmunching
The fish quality here was solid. I although it was a great concept to have Izakaya, Japanese street-style bar, next to Omakase counter. I trusted all Sushi and Sashimi quality before I arrived there, and they were all good. At the same time, they have built many graphics from the Izakaya street style that made the place comfortable and accessible. With Chirashi, Sashimis sorted over Sushi rice, I especially liked saba, mackerel and tuna. Also try Tuna Guac from their appetizers. Tuna and avocado along with serving can not be so unique, but this dish was completely different from other usual tuna avocado combinations. I must say this could be the best street style Izakaya I tried in the USA.
Amazing experience all around. Bar is very cool, albeit a bit crowded. That?s expected for a small place like this. We went to Omakase, there back table and it was fantastic. Each piece of sushi made was individually and intentionally crafted. Really cool experience.
